Our baby shark is temporarily caught in the tide pool but at barely a foot in length, he is soon able to find his way back to deeper water.

Ahhhhh . . . the dreaded jelly fish . . . lovely to look at but painful to touch!

So here is the lunch bunch at the Abaco Inn . . . Stephen & Sharon, David & Catherine (Solitaire1)and John & Jo (Heartbeat). Ruger is resting under the table awaiting food droppings...

And of course there is always someone who just HAS to fly in for lunch!!!!!

Tahiti Beach in March

So this is Tahiti Beach . . . which is about a 5 mile dinghy ride from Hopetown. We took the day, went to lunch and saw some tidal pools with LOTS of great treasures to collect, see and photograph! One of the most fascinating items were the remains of one of the space shuttles that had washed up on the beach on Elbow Cay. Ruger and Stephen are seen inspecting the remains. Many of the tidal pools held everything from jelly fish to a Very small baby shark. Ruger really enjoys the dinghy rides as evidenced by his hanging off of the front of the dink!

Beaches . . . glassing . . . shells . . . wrack lines . . . sea beans . . . beautiful colored seas . . . waves . . . coral . . . walking barefoot . . . Ruger chasing sea birds and sticks . . . sun . . . balmy (and not so balmy) winds . . . friendly folks . . . a Cay Paradise . . . Ahhhhhhh!!!!

Stephen and Ruger look at the ocean and prepare themselves for a game of water fetch!
Here comes Ruger with his stick!

Birds on the beach looking for salt water treats!

January 21st!

Up close and personal with my sweetheart . . . is that a cat that swallowed the canary look or WHAT!

Birthday dinner aboard Solitaire1 with David and Catherine Allin . . . and a very nice Red from our wine cellar!

Ahhhh, a picture of the sumptuous repast . . . Yup! Those ARE garlic mashed potatoes!

It’s a birthday cake, uhm, Key Lime Birthday Pie from Vernon’s! Yummmm! Thanks for not putting too many candles on the pie, Catherine!

It’s my party and I’m gonna eat cake, gonna eat cake . . . and take the rest home for tomorrow! AND sip on champagne, bubble, bubble!

This sand fort is so named the Blue Flip Flop and has withstood many water surges and still stands although it’s a bit bedraggled since the castle builders flew home.
Soooooo . . . THIS is what a stormy day in the Bahamas with gale force winds and surf looks like!

But THIS is what a sunny day in the water feels like!

The Mistress of her ship . . . uhm, er, Dink!

Hopetown

WHAT a lovely spot! The town seems to nestle you to its bosom and you are very much made to feel a part of this town. Hopetown in nestled smack dab in the middle of Elbow Cay with a working lighthouse and St. James Methodist Church that plays 2 songs in chimes at noon and 6:00 p. m. daily. The music rotates so one gets quite the variety. Many sea turtles seem to make their home in the harbor and it's fun to watch them when they come up for air prior to sounding! Naturally they are camera shy and word is that there’s not a camera fast enough to snap their image when they are ‘airing’. Somehow think that that’s more operator slowness rather than the cameras!

More in February

Arrhhh! It's a good day to be aboard with a Jbeverage, the sun, the view ...J

All three 'boys' sitting outside Vernon's Grocery and reading about things to see and do while in Hopetown while the 'girls' shop for groceries and open a charge account for the boats.

Sharon is returning the 'helpful' nature of the local folks by 'helping' herself to the rum that is stocked overhead in the liquor store.
Yes . . .she IS standing barefoot on the counter at
Light House Liquors! :)

This is a map of the chain of islands and cay's in the Bahamas known as the Abacos. This will give you an idea of some of the places where we've hung our cap and where we now are located.
